Facebook To Set Guard Against Fake News.
In order to decrease the increasing number of fake news and hoaxes that are doing its rounds on Facebook, the social media site on Thursday, said that it is doing all possible efforts to reduce these by developing different methods to report fake news, whenever the user spots one on the site. Adam Mosseri, Vice President, Facebook, News in Charge, said that the company is developing a program that will work with the third party fact checking organizations that are signatories of Poynter’s International Fact Checking Code of Principles for the authenticity of the news feeds. He further added that if any story is identified asfalse news, then it will be flagged as a fake with a corresponding link explaining why. Mosseri said that the lot of these fake feeds has strong financial motivation behind them. Many of these news feeds are posted as though it is from a reputed news agency but are linked to mostly ad sites. He said the company realizes the value of authentic and meaningful news feeds and is wholeheartedly trying to build a strong platform for this.
